Molar
Businesses want to see us happy. Or at least that's what they make us believe in their advertising. Whether it's sweet drinks, sanitary towels or insurances, happiness sells. And those who can't be lured with happiness at least jump at coolness. What goes for advertising also goes for pop culture. Countless pop songs not only try to sweep us into a state of happiness, but they actually succeed. Or do you manage to remain completely uninvolved when someone puts on «We are family»?
«Molar» is Spanish for ‘being into something’, or ‘hitting it off’, which undoubtedly applies to Quim Bigas. By means of music, movement, gestures and facial expressions, he embodies all possible representations of happiness and gives everything to make this feeling also spill over to the audience on Waisenhausplatz. Can he mobilise the masses with his own emotions? Will the spark jump from the individual to the group? We will see. In any case, it’ll be a blast.
Quim Bigas Bassart lives in Barcelona and Copenhagen and works as a performer, choreographer, dramaturg and is a lecturer at the Danske Scenekunstskolen in Copenhagen.
